Mako accidentally getting Korra a water-tribe betrothal necklace.

He asked Senna for advice. Mom's fault.

“So, Korra’s been a real great friend and I kind of wanna thank her for that,” Mako starts, and Senna nods slowly, waiting for the question, “So I was gonna get her something, and… I was wondering, if you knew what Korra would like?”

“Necklaces!” Senna says, and Mako raises an eyebrow at this.

“Sorry?” he asks. “Necklaces?”

“Particularly water-tribe ones,” Senna nods, a smirk on her face. “No doubt about that. Yup. Definitely. She’d love that. They make fan-tas-tic gifts!” She giggles, and abruptly disappears into the house.

Mako has no idea why Senna had that kind of idea in mind. Water tribe necklaces? He thought. Did Korra even like that kind of stuff?

He shrugged, not really sure what he was getting himself into, but it looked harmless to him. Senna was Korra’s mother, after all. She probably knew better than him. Buy Korra a water-tribe necklace. Cool. No problem.
